Costco ESS – Costco Employee Login

The Costco Wholesale Corporation is a chain of membership-only big-box retail stores that are highly sought after for their wide selection and everyday low prices. As of 2022, some of Costco’s most popular products include toilet paper, choice and prime beef, wine, organic foods, and rotisserie chicken.

As the fifth largest retailer in the world, Costco has 574 locations in the US and 833 warehouses total in more than 12 countries around the globe, employing almost 300,000 people, of which more than 150,000 are full-time workers.

With such a huge and diverse workforce, it’s only natural that the company would eventually come to rely on some kind of self-service technology solution that would allow it to streamline a variety of tasks and processes specific to the HR department, allowing managers to focus more of their attention on strategic planning rather than emphasizing just on the technical and operational aspects of HR management.

To that end, the company created the Costco Employee Website, which is a self-service portal where Costco employees can access their data and take care of many human resources and job-related tasks, such as updating their personal information and accessing payroll information, work schedules, and benefits.

Just like the vast majority of employee self-service systems out there, the Costco employee website also allows users to check their pay stubs, tax information, W-2s, PTO balances and more – without having to deal with their manager or HR representative.

But that’s not all. You can also use the portal to find out everything you need to know about your Costco Employee Benefits, such as, but not limited to, retirement, healthcare, and insurance.

Costco Benefits

In case you’re wondering, on the Costco employee portal, you’ll find a direct link to Costco ESS Benefits, too.

The Costco Employee login portal can be reached by clicking the link below. Once you’re there, you can continue to the Costco ESS Benefits website and sign in by clicking on the “Benefits” tab, located on the bottom left side of the page.

It’s worth noting, though, that if you’re a benefit eligible employee who is receiving medical coverage under another Costco Employee, you’ll need to sign up twice.

More specifically, you will need to sign up as a “Dependent” to get access to your medical, vision and dental coverage and you will also need to register as an “Employee” so you can also take a look at your other benefits, including Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance.

If you’re planning to register as both a “Dependent” and an “Employee,” please keep in mind that you can’t use the same email address to create both accounts. In other words, each account must have its own unique email address attached to it.

Creating a Costco Benefits account isn’t always necessary. For example, if you’re just looking for general information about the Costco Employee Benefit Program, you can access the site as a “Guest” to check things out and see what they’ve got in store for you.

Costco Employee Website Login Requirements

  • The link to the official Costco ESS website (You’ll find that below).
  • Your Costco ESS employee login information:
    • Username
    • Password
  • An internet browser that allows you to navigate the Costco employee site with ease.
  • A computer or mobile device that has internet access.
  • Fast internet access (Optional).

To add to the last point, high internet speed is recommended, but not absolutely necessary. However, not having a fast internet connection may and probably will result in a slower browsing experience.

Costco Employee Login – Step-by-Step Guide

Before moving on, it’s worth pointing out that in order to access Costco ESS from outside the company’s network, you will need to use the Google Chrome web browser. Furthermore, if you want to have the option to access the Costco Employee Self Service portal on a mobile device as well, you must also download the Chrome browser app for Android or iOS.

Additionally, if you’re a former employee who is trying to access Costco ESS 25 months after the separation date, then you will need to register again for a MyCostco Account in order to receive your new login credentials.

Registering for a “My Costco Account” is easy. Simply click on this link and enter the requested employee information on the enrollment form, including Country, Costco Employee ID, and warehouse/location or most recent hire date. After filling out the registration form, click “Continue” and then follow the on-screen prompts to complete the Costco Employee Account enrollment process.

New employees can also register by following the exact same process detailed above, at any time, as long as they have access to their Employee ID number and the 2-5 digit number associated with their warehouse or location name. Those who don’t have the aforementioned number can still complete the registration form by selecting their most recent hire date from the drop-down at the bottom of the page.

For those not familiar, the Username or ID is a unique number shown on employee pay stubs and timecards.

If your employee number is not showing up or if you don’t have access to either of those things yet, then you’ll need to contact your payroll clerk for assistance. Costco contact information can be found at the bottom of this page.

It’s also worth mentioning that employees that are rehired must enter their most recent date of hire, which is also known as “adjusted hire date.”

If you’re having problems signing in to your account, don’t worry! We’re here to help.
There are a few things that might be going on. These are the possible issues:

  • You forgot your username.
  • You’re using the wrong Employee ID number or email address.
  • You forgot your password.

Here’s what you need to do to troubleshoot the issue.

Go to the Costco ESS login portal and click on the “Trouble Signing In?” link located at the bottom of the sign in form.

After clicking the trouble signing in link, you’ll be prompted to select one of the following options: Costco Employees, Costco Alumni, and Vendors and Suppliers. Choose the one that fits you best and proceed to the next step.

If you clicked on “Costco Employees” or “Costco Alumni”, select your country from the drop-down menu, enter your Employee ID number, click “Continue,” and then follow the on-screen instructions to retriever your Costco ESS username and/or reset your password.

Meanwhile, if you clicked on the “Vendors and Suppliers” option, enter your username, which is the same as the e-mail address the registration link was sent to, click “Reset Password,” and follow the provided steps to regain access to your Costco account.

Still having issues?

If you aren’t able to access your account after following these steps, then you will probably need to contact support to tell them what’s going on and see if they can help you get back into your Costco account.

To contact customer service, simply go back to the Costco ESS portal, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the “Get Help or Contact Us” link located on the bottom left of your screen.

On the Costco Customer Service page you’ll find a bunch of ways to get help, but I would click on the “Chat” icon on the bottom right if I were you to get in touch with a real customer service agent as quickly as possible in order to troubleshoot the issue a lot faster. Otherwise, contact your “Supervisor” or “Manager” as soon as you can.
