Roku is making it easier for users to set up their favorite subscription services when activating new Roku devices on their account.
The new feature streamlines the setup process by not requiring users to enter their usernames and passwords over and over again each time they activate a new streaming device or Roku TV.
The new Automatic Account Link feature will roll out in the coming weeks to all supported players, the company said in a blog post. While Roku TV models will receive the update this summer.
The company says 10 services support account linking at this time. Popular streaming services like Sling TV and Pandora are already available, with more coming on the way.
The new Automatic Account Link feature is like the popular Single Sign-On feature available on Chromecast and Amazon, and also on Roku, of course.
Single Sign-On reduces the number of times users need to enter their usernames and passwords for their cable or satellite providers to view streaming channels using a Roku device.
Roku’s new feature, which will “make subscription streaming on multiple Roku devices easier for customers,” is part of Roku OS 9.1.
